Communication and Interaction

Children may have difficulties in one or more of the following areas:

Attention/Interaction skills: cannot ignore distractions, may have peer relationship difficulties, interaction is not always appropriate. May not inititiate or maintain a conversation.

Understanding/Receptive language: Frequent misunderstandings

Speech/Expressive Language: may simplify language and use limited vocabulary, immaturities in speech sounds system, grammar/phonological awareness is poor and literacy may be affected.
